2 Peter 3:15
“And count the patience of our Lord as salvation…”
Dwell:
Why hasn't the Lord returned yet? He promised to come soon, but still, we wait. The mind of the Lord operates far beyond our understanding; He is infinitely patient, unlike us. Have you ever cried out, "Come, Lord Jesus!"? Now, imagine the Lord answering that prayer before the day you were saved. He is a God of patience, overflowing with grace and mercy.
God’s patience with a sinful and guilty world isn't something He owes us an explanation for. We must accept that our human minds are limited in their understanding. If you could fully comprehend every question your faith presents, you might need to reassess the depth of that faith. Even if the Lord delays His return for another thousand years, let it be so. It will be for the good of His people and the glory of His name.
God’s patience is truly remarkable. Why? Because we are born as enemies of God. He has every right to cast us into hell, yet His patience offers us the opportunity to repent and come to salvation. If you are unconverted and hear the good news of the gospel, open your eyes to the glorious grace and mercy of God, who patiently waits for you to come to saving faith in Christ. Turn to Him, surrender to Jesus, and you will find true and everlasting life.
God’s long-suffering is one of the great means by which He works for the salvation of His elect. He will not let them die till first they live to God. He will not suffer them to pass into eternity till first His infinite love has justified them through the righteousness of Christ. - C.H. Spurgeon
Lord, thank You for Your infinite patience and mercy. Though we cry out for Your return, we trust in Your perfect timing. Help us to understand that Your delays are for our good and Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
