Psalm 27:14
“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”
Dwell:
Have you been waiting for a husband, a child, a friend, or a job? Have you prayed earnestly, seeking an answer from the Lord, only to feel like He hasn't responded? It's one thing to tell someone, “Wait on the Lord,” but have you ever truly waited for something profoundly good, like the joy of having a child or the companionship of a faithful spouse? These desires are deeply significant and can make it seem like God isn't hearing your prayers.
Here are a few insights to consider about waiting on God:
Trust and Hope: When we wait well on the Lord, we express our trust and hope in Him. Our actions say, “Lord, I trust You.”
Divine Plan: Waiting well means acknowledging, “God, Your plan for my life surpasses anything I could ever ask or imagine.”
Faithfulness: By waiting well, we affirm, “God, You’ve been faithful in fulfilling Your promises, and I believe You won’t stop now.”
Prioritizing God: Waiting well shows our heart's cry, “God, I’d rather have You than anything You can provide.”
Acknowledging His Sovereignty: Waiting well is a declaration, “God, You are God, and I am not.”
Waiting on the Lord is more than just enduring a delay; it's an active expression of our faith and dependence on Him. Embrace the waiting season as an opportunity to deepen your trust and grow closer to God, knowing that His timing and plans are perfect.
Thought:
"A Christian comes to contentment, not so much by way of addition, as by way of subtraction. He knows it is his duty to submit to God's will, and therefore he sees it is his wisdom to wait upon God." - Jeremiah Burroughs
"While we wait for God with patience, He is molding us into vessels of honor fit for His use. Wait on Him with a believing heart." - John Owen
Prayer:
Lord, I can be so impatient at times. It’s quite embarrassing to admit that I question Your timing in my life. I might not always express it directly, but it shows in subtle ways like a small complaint here and a negative comment there. I’m deeply sorry, Lord. I trust Your timing. I’m so grateful for Your patience toward me, and I believe that what You have for me is beyond what I can ever imagine for myself.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
